The Breakthrough album for the Finnish outfit, and a firm favourite amongst fans - some of whom cite it as their finest ever release. Featuring major hit singles in "Sleeping Sun" & "Walking in the Air" (a majestic covet of the finned Howard Blake composition), "Oceanborn" saw Nightwish turning up their musical ambition... and the power along with it! A challenging record to create. It pushed the individual musicians to the very edge of their abilities, and sounds all the more exciting for it. The right release at the right time. Having spectacularly defined their style with the "Oceanborn" album, Nightwish now took things one stage further, delivering a record that - in addition to topping the charts in their native Finland - also made some serious inroads overseas. Word on the band was spreading fast, and "Wishmaster" (beating Iron Maiden to the "Album Of The Month" accolade in Germany's prestigious Rock Hard magazine) was yet another landmark outing; not only was the material consistently strong, but in "Dead Boy's Poem" it featured the track voted "Best NW Song Ever" on the official website! "Wishmaster" (2000): a band coming of age in the international spotlight.

When Nightwish mainman Tuomas Holopainen led his fellow musicians back into the studio to keep the momentum going in the wake of the international success of the "Wishmaster" album (2000), it seemed like the ideal time for the Finnish outfit to deliver their own version of a song that Tuomas had been a fan of since he was a child - Over The Hills And Far Away' by Gary Moore. Result: a platinum hit single that effectively took up residence in the domestic charts, holding firm inside the Top 40 for an incredible 49 weeks! Here, the track receives powerful support from a choice selection of live & studio material (in addition to the video for Over The Hills...'), with special guests such as Tapio Wilska (Finntroll) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) stopping by the studio to add the icing to the cake. "Over The Hills And Far Away" (2001): Another perfectly chosen cover plus a Genuine Nightwish classic in "10th Man Down".
